Voices Of The Unheard: How African- And Caribbean-Heritage Men Seek Help For Their Health
Skerry, R. 2025.
Nilaari, a community mental health group, spoke with over 100 African- and Caribbean-heritage men to understand how they seek help for their health. The project showed that, despite common assumptions, these men are willing to talk when supported by trusted community groups, revealing deep feelings often left unspoken. Their voices were honoured through a powerful poem, ‘If I could look into the eyes of my younger self’, composed and performed by Bristol’s first City Poet, Miles Chambers, reflecting their shared experiences.
