This article reflects on key disability justice anniversaries to argue for autism research grounded in the social model of disability, neurodiversity, and positive social change rather than deficit-based frameworks. It highlights a growing shift towards participatory, Autistic-led research that centres lived experience, collaboration, and justice, while recognising that many health and well-being disparities stem from social and structural barriers, not neurology. The special issue calls for reimagining Autism research as a transformative, community-informed practice that creates environments where all minds can thrive.
